Brian Jenkins Joins Southern Maine Staff as Assistant Director of Athletics & Recreation

GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced the hiring of Brian Jenkins as Assistant Director of Athletics & Recreation. Jenkins is a Gorham native and a veteran of the United States Army.
 
Jenkins brings extensive leadership and operations management experience to the department. A demonstrated leader, Jenkins was a Captain in the United States Army. Following his distinguished military career, Jenkins worked as a Project Manager & Systems Analyst with the Northcross Group, a New England based firm that provides management and technology services.
 
"In anything Brian has ever done, it's very clear that he has been a leader and has excelled in every way possible.  Brian is a former Gorham High School and UMaine Farmington student-athlete and graduate who went on to be a commissioned officer in the United States Army after earning his advanced degree from The George Washington University," said Director of Athletics Al Bean.  "Brian has impressed me with his passion and vast knowledge of sports, his administrative competency, creative problem solving and his willingness and ability to lead.  He will bring new skills and thought processes to the work of the department and I'm confident he will make connections and build outstanding relationships.  I'm very pleased that he will be joining us as Assistant Director of Athletics and look forward to his many contributions."
 
 
Jenkins played college baseball at the University of Maine at Farmington before graduating with a degree in Secondary Education-Mathematics. He then went on to earn his Master of Public Administration degree from The George Washington University. Jenkins returned to the diamond as an assistant coach at Saint Joseph's College of Maine during the 2024 season.
