Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony) drove in five runs in game one, and junior
Clay Robbins (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) pitched five innings of one-hit ball to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 12-0 (7 inning) win over the Western Connecticut State University Wolves in game one of a Little East Conference doubleheader Friday afternoon at Westside Field. WestConn earned a 4-3 walk-off win in game two.

st meeting between Southern Maine and Western Connecticut State University. The Huskies lead the overall series 55-16. USM is 14-3 against WestConn in their last 17 meetings, and WestConn's 4-3 win in game two snapped a six-game losing streak to the Huskies.

Game 1 – Southern Maine 12, WestConn 0 (7 inn)
- Southern Maine collected 12 hits off of four WestConn pitchers to earn a 12-0 (7 inning) win in game one.
- Sophomore Kyle Douin (Augusta, Maine/Cony) drove in five runs going 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored. He had a two-run home run in the top of the first to put USM up early, an RBI double in the third, and a two-run double in the fifth.
- Senior Jack LeBlond (Lewiston, Maine/Bridgton Academy) finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a run scored, a walk and four RBI. Leblond had a double, triple and home run to his credit in the game, missing the cycle by a single.
- Junior Anthony Poole (South Portland, Maine) and sophomore Hunter Brissette (Lisbon, Maine/Lisbon Falls) each went 2-for-4. Poole had a solo home run, and two runs scored. Brissette, the Huskies' lead off hitter, scored three runs.
- Junior Clay Robbins (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) earned the win in a solid start, going 5.0 innings and allowing just one hit. Robbins struck out five and did not give up a walk.
Game 2 – WestConn 4, Southern Maine 0
- Thomas Keough singled to the gap in left field in the bottom of the ninth inning to deliver the Wolves a 4-3 walk off win. Southern Maine trailed WestConn 3-2 to start the top of the ninth, but rallied to tie the score on a two-out double down the left field line from senior Lucas Francis (Lisbon, Maine/Lisbon Falls).
- WestConn benefitted from a strong game on the mound from starter Connor Gannon. Gannon went the distance for the Wolves allowing seven hits and three runs (one earned) in nine innings. Gannon did not give up a walk and struck out nine in the win.
- Francis and senior Jack LeBlond (Lewiston, Maine/Bridgton Academy) had RBI for the Huskies. Francis and sophomore Hunter Brissette (Lisbon, Maine/Lisbon Falls) were both repeat hitters going 2-for-4 in the game for Southern Maine.
Up Next:
Southern Maine is the fourth seed in the upcoming Little East Conference Championship Tournament. The tournament will be hosted by no. 1 seed UMass Boston and will begin play on Wednesday, May 8 at Monan Park. The Huskies will face No. 3 UMass Dartmouth at 7:00 pm in the first game of the double-elimination tournament.
