BOSTON, Mass. – Bostyn Burris was 5-for-7 over two games with five RBI as the UMass Boston Beacons took two from the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Monan Park. UMB squeaked out a 5-4 win in game one, and then earned a 14-3 (7 inning) win over the Huskies in game two for the sweep.

th meeting between the University of Southern Maine and the UMass Boston Beacons. With the two wins today, UMass Boston trails the overall series 51-23. Southern Maine defeated UMass Boston Beacons twice in the 2023 regular season and in the LEC postseason a year ago.

Game 1 – UMB 5, Southern Maine 4
- Trailing 4-0 headed to the top of the seventh, Southern Maine equalized with four runs in the inning.
- The Huskies first three batters of the inning reached safely including singles from sophomores Dylan Firmin (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) and Hunter Brissette (Lisbon, Maine/Lisbon Falls) to load the bases. Senior Cam Seymour (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) earned an RBI walk to give USM its first run of the game. With one out, junior Anthony Poole (South Portland, Maine) made it 4-2 with an RBI single into left, before senior Jack LeBlond (Lewiston, Maine/Bridgton Academy) hit an RBI sacrifice fly to right for a 4-3 game. Senior Christian Siciliano (Shrewsbury, Mass.) tied up the game with a two-out single to the gap in right before the inning ended to tie the score.
- UMB regained the lead in the home half of the inning. Justin Gouveia singled to left to lead off and moved to second on a wild pitch. Gouveia moved up one more base on a sacrifice bunt before Aidan Blake singled him home for the RBI and go-ahead run.
- In its final two at-bats, Southern Maine went down in order and was unable to generate a run.
- Poole and LeBlond finished the game with three hits each. Poole was 3-for-5 with an RBI, while LeBlond was 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Game 2 – UMB 14, Southern Maine 3
- After trailing 2-0 following one run from the Beacons in the first and second inning, Southern Maine took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth.
- Siciliano drove in USM's first run of the game in the top of the fourth with an RBI single to left, and Poole drove in the game-tying and go-ahead run in the fifth with a triple.
- UMass Boston broke open the game in the bottom of the fifth scoring 10 runs – all on two outs – to surge ahead 12-3. The Beacons drew three walks around the two outs in their first five batters in the inning, and then scored the game-tying run on a wild pitch. UMB scored its next three runs on two walks and a hit batter to lead 6-3. Burris had a three-run single, and Brandon Gaer had a three-run home run to account for the final six runs of the inning.
- Up 12-3, the Beacons tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, including an RBI sacrifice fly from Blake to trigger the 10-run rule. In the top of the seventh, Brissette reach safely for Southern Maine with a single to start the inning, but the Beacons got the final three outs to conclude the game.

Southern Maine faces Plymouth State in Little East Conference action on Tuesday (11:00 am) at Bowdoin College. The game was moved to the Brunswick, Maine campus due to field conditions at USM. The Huskies remain at home in non-conference action against Colby on Wednesday (3:30 pm).
