GORHAM, Maine – University of Southern Maine seniors
Madison Zimmer (Regina, Saskatchewan/Dr. Martin LeBoldus Catholic) and
Sierra Castonguay (Nottingham, N.H./Dover) ended their careers with a 3-1 win over the Vermont State University Castleton Spartans on Saturday afternoon in Gorham. Zimmer posted nine kills, three aces, a solo block and five block assists for a total of 15.5 points. Castonguay recorded a game-leading 27 digs and also had two aces.

Freshman
Ella Koehler (Pickerington, Ohio/Fairfield Christian Academy) recorded a game-leading 16.5 points with 13 kills, three block assists and two aces and Hailey Martinovich led the Spartans with 14 kills and a block assist for 14.5 points.

How It Happened:
- The Huskies pulled away in the first set with a 9-1 run to go ahead 13-5. Sophomore Chloe Whittaker (Biddeford, Maine) had two aces during that span and Zimmer had three block assists. The Huskies ended up taking the set 25-14.
- Southern Maine took a 12-9 lead with a 5-0 run and held it for the remainder of the second set to win 25-19.
- Castleton set the tone of the third set by scoring the first four points off three Husky attack errors and an ace. They furthered the lead with another 4-0 run and went on to win the set 25-16.
- Southern Maine ended its season with a 25-14 win in the fourth set to take the match. The Huskies hit .452 with 16 kills. Koehler and Zimmer combined for nine kills with five and four respectively.

- The Huskies led 45-39 in kills and 16-9 in aces.
- Freshman Macie Ahmer (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North) recorded a game-leading 35 assists and added nine digs, five kills and two aces. She also had two block assists.
- Whittaker and Castleton's Alondra Rojas each had five aces.
- Victoria Garcia led Castleton with 19 digs.
- Castonguay finishes her career fifth in program history with career digs with 1,288 and third in digs-per-set with 3.648. Her 3.97 digs-per-set this season ranks eighth in program history.
- Zimmer wraps up her career second in career block assists with 101 and tied for fourth in total blocks with 146. Her 40 block assists this season ranks ninth in program history.
- Ahmer finished the season with 6.78 assists-per-set and her mark is fifth in program history.
