GORHAM, Maine – Brady Coyne was 5-for-9 from three for a game-high 21 points to lead the Bates College Bobcats to a narrow 68-66 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference men's basketball game Tuesday night at Hill Gym.
Coyne was one of three Bates players in double-figures. Peter Psyhoeos had 14 points and seven rebounds, while Babacar Pouye added 11 points, nine rebounds (six offensive) and four assists.

Diego Colon (New Braunfels, Texas) added 17 points on 4-for-9 shooting from three while junior

Today's game marked the 47
th meeting between the University of Southern Maine Huskies and the Bates College Bobcats. Southern Maine leads the overall series 29-18. The Huskies were 3-7 in the last 10 match-ups with the Bobcats. Bates has ended Southern Maine's four-game win streak to start the season the last two years (2023-2024, 2024-2025).
How It Happened:
- Trailing by 12. 55-43, with 10:54 remaining in the game, the Huskies fought their way back against the Bobcats. Outscoring Bates 15-9 over the next seven minutes, the Huskies made it a two-possession game, 64-58, with just over three minutes remaining.
- The Huskies were 5-for-8 from three during the run and were led by six points each from Lausier and Colon. Senior Juneau Anicette's (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips) three with 3:18 on the clock made it a 64-58 game.
- Both teams traded points over the next two minutes and the Bobcats remained in front by six, 67-61, on one of two free throws from Pouye with 38 seconds to play.
- On the Huskies next possession, Colon was fouled while attempting a three and calmly made each free throw to make it a 67-64 game with 30 seconds to go.
- Forced to foul the Bobcats, Bates made one of two free throws on its next possession extending its lead to 68-44 with 29 seconds before Lausier scored on a tough move in the paint to make it a two-point game, 68-66, with just six more seconds off the clock.
- Putting Bates on the line for one-and-one attempts, Bates missed its first to give the ball back to the Huskies with 16 seconds to play, but the Huskies committed one of their 14 turnovers in the game. Sending the Bobcats back to the line, Bates again missed the front end of one-and-one and Lausier cleared the ball with seven ticks left. The Huskies worked a final possession to get an open and strong look at a game-winning three, but the ball rattled in and out for the 68-66 final.

- Lausier has recorded five consecutive double-doubles this season and is averaging 20.6 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. He is currently ranked first in NCAA Division III Men's Basketball statistics in Defensive Rebounds Per Game at 12.75 per game, and he is fifth nationally in double-doubles.
