Danbury, Conn. – The University of Southern Maine women's volleyball team went 0-2 on Saturday in a tri-match at Western Connecticut State University. The Huskies dropped a Little East Conference match to the Wolves 3-1 before falling to the William Paterson University Pioneers in three sets.

Freshmen
Ella Koehler (Pickerington, Ohio/Fairfield Christian Academy) and
Macie Ahmer (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North) each recorded a double-double in the first match. Koehler had 12 kills and 15 digs for her first career double-double while Ahmer recorded 36 assists and 12 digs. Ahmer also came up one dig short of another double-double in the match against William Paterson.

How It Happened:
- The Wolves won the first set 25-19 and led for the majority of the set.
- Southern Maine evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-18 win in the second set. A 6-0 run helped the Huskies pull away towards the end of the set.
- The third set was a battle that saw both teams put together late rallies. Western Connecticut used a 6-1 run to go ahead 21-18 and got to match point 24-20 before the Huskies tied the set at 24-24 with a 4-0 run. The hosts prevailed by scoring the final two points to win 26-24.
- Western Connecticut finished off the match with a 25-15 win in the third set.

Inside The Stats:
- The Western Connecticut duo of Helen Megson and Julia Stoliker finished first and second in kills with 14 and 13. Stoliker added 18 digs to finish with a double-double.
- The Huskies had three players with double digit kills. Koehler and sophomore Anyelis Hernandez (Lawrence, Mass.) tied for the team lead with 12 and junior Drew Johnson (Pismo Beach, Cali. /Brewer) had 11. Hernandez's 12 kills are a career high.
- Fifth-year senior Sierra Castonguay (Nottingham, N.H./Dover) led all players in digs with 24 followed by Sydney Slupatchuk with 22.
- Arianna LaPointe recorded 41 assists.

- The Pioneers won each of the first two sets 25-14.
- The sweep was completed with a 25-18 Pioneer win in the third set.

- Hernandez and Hope Arce-Reed each led their team in kills with nine.
- Ahmer, Koehler and Castonguay each had nine digs for Southern Maine.
- Ahmer had 21 assists while Taylor Grady led the Pioneers with 27.
- Sofia Zablackis recorded a game-high 11.5 points from eight kills, three solo blocks and a block assist.
- The Pioneers led 11-1 in blocks. And hit .300 as a team with 40 kills.
