GORHAM, Maine – McKay Allain scored twice to lead five different goal scorers as the Colby College Mules defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 6-2 in a non-conference field hockey game Sunday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

Today's game marked the first time since 2017 that the Mules and Huskies faced each other in an NCAA contest. Colby and Southern Maine played in 2020 for an exhibition game (Colby 2-1 OT), but the result does not officially count. Today's game is the 46
th meeting between the two schools, and Colby leads 24-20-2 with today's win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Mules took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter as Catherine Mculty and Bridget Everett scored I the fifth and 12th minute, respectively.
- Senior Brooke Carson (Bryant Pond, Maine/Oxford Hills) halved the Huskies' deficit in the second quarter with her fourth goal of the season, redirecting in a pass from sophomore Jenessa Foster (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) in the 25th minute. The Mules regained their two-goal lead just before halftime as Elizabeth Takoudes knocked in a goal 57 second before half.
- Sophomore Norie Tibbetts (Skowhegan, Maine) brought the Huskies back to within one scoring her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 34th minute.
- From there Allain buoyed the Mules scoring in the 41st and 47th minute to put the Mules up by two 5-2 before Colby converted its second penalty stroke of the game for the 6-2 final in the 51st minute.

- With today's goal, Carson surpassed 100 points in her career. She now has 41 goals and 19 assists for 101 career points. She is fifth in career scoring with 41 goals, and fourth in career assists. She is one of five Huskies in program history to surpass 100 points in her career, and the second Husky to do so this season joining senior Sage Drinkwater (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle).
