WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior
Colby Frost (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) extended his win streak to 10 matches scoring 11 points in a dominant performance to highlight a strong day of competition for the University of Southern Maine Huskies wrestling team.
The Huskies earned a pair of dual meet victories defeating Worcester Polytechnic Institute 34-9 and SUNY-Brockport 47-3. With the two wins, the Huskies have won their last five matches consecutively and are now 9-6 overall.

On the Mat:
- Southern Maine won the first six weight classes to open its 34-9 win over WPI. Sophomore Jake Craig (Skowhegan, Maine), the top ranked wrestler in the region at 125lbs, opened the match with a 10-0 major decision over fifth-ranked Tanner Thatcher for a quick 4-0 Husky lead.
- Senior Ethan Ford (North Andover, Mass.) continued his strong run. Ranked sixth at 133lbs, Ford earned an 8-3 decision over eighth ranked Charlie Pavis.
- Up 7-0, sophomore Caden Frost (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) and Colby Frost went for back-to-back technical falls. Caden Frost defeated Mason Medina 16-0 (3:23) at 141, followed by a 17-1 (5:23) result by Colby Frost at 149lbs for a 17-0 USM lead.
- Junior Kaleb Pool (Tucson, Arizona) earned a 1:50 win by fall at 157 over Zachary Rioux, and junior Tyler Haynes (Metuchen, N.J.) had a hard won 2-1 decision at 165 as the Huskies led 26-0.
- WPI scored its nine points with a decision at 174 and a win by fall at 184 before junior Anthony Mears (Lawrence, Mass./Central Catholic) and senior Nick Beebe (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter) closed out the match at 197 and 285 respectivley. Mears had a 14-1 major decision win, while Beebe earned a 10-0 win by major decision.
- Against SUNY Brockport, the Huskies won the 125, 133, 141, 157, and 184 lbs bouts by technical fall. Craig improved to 21-4 downing Liam Bullock 16-0 for his 11th consecutive win, while Ford earned a 19-3 win over Alexander Burroughs. Ford is now 18-4, and has won 12 straight.
- Colby Frost was one of two Huskies to earn a win by fall against Brockport, pinning Elvis Vaquez at 149 lbs. Freshman Derek Cote (Lebanon, Maine/Noble) earned his fourth win by fall of the season putting Kiam Coleman to the mat.
