GORHAM, Maine – Three different players scored as the University of Southern Maine Huskies earned a 3-1 win over the Salem State University Vikings in a non-conference field hockey game Tuesday night at Hannaford Field.

Abigail Chartier (Lewiston, Maine) each scored as the Huskies remain undefeated at home this season in four games at Hannaford Field.

Tonight's game marked the 45
th meeting between the University of Southern Maine and Salem State University. Southern Maine leads the overall series 29-14-2, and has won the last eight games consecutively. The Huskies defeated the Vikings 7-0 on the road in 2022.
Sage Drinkwater had a hat trick in the game.
How It Happened:
- Barr started the Huskies scoring putting USM up 1-0 in the 12th minute, knocking in a loose ball in front of the cage for her third goal of the season.
- After a scoreless second quarter, Drinkwater put USM up 2-0 early in the third quarter for her second goal of the season. Drinkwater completed the assist from senior Mary Keef (Westbrook, Maine).
- The Huskies went up 3-0 in the 48th as Chartier flipped in a back-handed shot for her fourth goal of the season.
- Salem State broke up the shutout in the 53rd minute as Kayla Mason raced onto a ball and beat the lone defender before besting the Huskies' Eleanor Folsom one-on-one with a breakaway goal. However, Salem State was unable to get any closer for the final.
