HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Gulls jumped ahead early scoring two run in the top of the first.  Endicott's first four batters reached safely as Joseph Millar led off with a double down the right field line, and scored on an RBI single from Caleb Shpur.  After a walk moved Shpur into scoring position, he came around to score on an RBI single t0 right from Robbie Wladkowski.
  • USM halved its deficit in the bottom of the inning as senior Tom Vesosky (Colchester, Vermont) led off with a triple to the gap in right field.  Junior Cam Seymour (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) picked up the RBi with a ground out to second.
  • After a scoreless second, the Gulls attacked for three runs in the top of the third to open up a 5-1 lead. A lead off double from Nicolas Notarangelo and a single from Wladkowski led to an RBI sacrifice fly to left from Kyle Grabowski and a 3-1 lead.  The Huskies were able to get the second out, and looked to leave the inning with just one run against them before an outfield fielding error led to two unearned runs and the 5-1 deficit.
  • Seymour picked the Huskies up in the bottom of the third with a two-run double down the right field line scoring Vesosky and junior Janek Lukzsa (South Paris, Maine/Oxford Hills).  Lukzsa reached on a single to shortstop, while Vesosky earned a walk.
  • Down 5-3, the Huskies scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a slim 6-5 lead. Senior Arlo Pike (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) led off the inning with a double, and scored on a double to left from senior Jonathan Wilson (East Granby, Conn.). Wilson advanced to third on a fly out, and sophomore Anthony Poole (South Portland, Maine) made it runners on first and third with a walk and one out against USM.  Lukzsa followed with the Huskies third double of the inning to score Wilson making it a 5-5 game before Vesosky had an RBI ground out to put USM up 6-5.
  • Endicott game right back in the top of the fifth to tie it up as Grabowski drew a lead-off walk and then stole second to put himself into scoring position.  Before advancing to third on a fly out. With two outs, Thomas Barbieri came up clutch with an RBI single to right for tie the game up at 6-6.
  • The Gulls struck for the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth.  With one out, Wladkowski double to the fence in center, and Grabowski connected on an infield single.  The Huskies got the second out before Danny MacDougall singled through the right side for the Gulls second two-out RBI in as many innings.
  • In the bottom of the inning, EC's Kyan Bagshaw worked his way around a two-out single, and then worked past a one-out double from Seymour in the seventh to keep the Huskies off of the board.
  • The Huskies threatened in the eighth as Pike doubled to right to lead off the inning, but Bagshaw gave way to closer Max Tarlin who got three consecutive outs to end the threat, and then did the same in the ninth for his eight save of the season.
