HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Down 3-0 after the top of the second, Southern Maine scored two in the home half of the innings on a two-run double from Donato Tocci (Portland, Maine/Portland) to trail 3-2.
  • The Huskies used a six-run bottom of the third to surge ahead of the Lakers 8-3.  Southern Maine had two hits in the inning and capitalized off of four Oswego fielding errors. Senior Tom Vesosky (Colchester, Vermont) had an RBI single to highlight the inning for USM.
  • After the big third inning, Oswego chipped away at the Huskies' lead scoring on a wild pitch in the top of the fourth, and adding two more on a two-run single from Colin Williams to trail 8-6.
  • Oswego reliever Alek Conrad kept the Huskies off the board retiring the side in order in the bottom of the fifth, and the Lakers rallied for two more runs in the top of the sixth to tie it up at 8-8.  Blake Van Dreason had an RBI double, while Tishawn Featherstone had an RBI single.
  • In the bottom of the sixth, Conrad worked his way around singles from sophomore Anthony Poole (South Portland, Maine) and Vesosky, before Levine's two-run single in the top of the seventh gave the Lakers the lead and put Conrad in the driver's seat for the win.
  • A strikeout and a double play ball ended the Huskies' seventh, and Oswego's Brian Brezosky added an insurance run with an RBI single. USM went down in order in the eighth and ninth for the 11-8 final.
