Huskies’ Cody Hawes and Chance Dixon Earn Post-Season Honors from Little East Conference

GORHAM, Maine – Senior Cody Hawes (Carmel, Maine/Hermon) and junior Chance Dixon (Lake Worth, Fla./Santaluces) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's basketball team have each earned a spot on the 2022-2023 All-Little East Conference roster.  Hawes was selected All-LEC first team, while Dixon landed on the second team. 
 
Dixon and Hawes are the first Huskies' men's basketball players to earn All-Conference honors from the Little East since the 2019-2020 season, while Hawes is the first men's basketball player to earn first team All-Conference honors since the 2018-2019 season.  Hawes was a member of the 2021-22 LEC All-Defensive team as a junior.
 
The Huskies' second leading scorer and top rebounder, Hawes averaged 11.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game for the Huskies.  Shooting a strong 55.3 percent from the floor (109-for-197), 34.1 percent (14-for-41) from three-point range, and 71.8 percent (51-for-71) from the free throw line, Hawes scored in double-figures in 13 games establishing a career-high of 28 points in an 89-76 win over Rhode Island College on January 25, 2023. Hawes also set a career-best for rebounds in a game, snagging 15 boards in a 91-84 double overtime win over Western Connecticut on Senior Day.  Hawes posted three double-doubles during the season.  He finishes his career with
687 points, 456 rebounds, 240 assists, 92 steals and 26 blocked shots.  Shooting nearly 50.0 percent from the field over his 80 career games, Hawes finishes with a 49.5 percent (262-for-529) mark.
 
The Huskies leading scorer, Dixon averaged 13.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game.  A long-range threat, Dixon canned a team-best 62 three-pointers and shot a solid 38.8 percent (62-for-160) from beyond the arc, and shot 45.9 percent (129-for-281) overall.  Dixon scored in double-figures in 20 games, and surpassed the 20-point mark four times. Through 58 career games, Dixon has 709 points, 128 rebounds, 95 assists, and 56 steals.  Averaging 38.0 percent from three over his career, Dixon has made 144 and is presently tied for sixth all-time with Jason St. Pierre (1999-2002).  Dixon also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors this season .
 
Southern Maine finished the 2022-2023 season with an overall record of 16-10 and 10-6 in the Little East.  Ending the regular season in third in the LEC, Southern Maine's 10 conference wins were the most in a season since the 1989 season.
