NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University Cadets scored twice in the third period to defeat the University of Southern Maine Huskies in the semifinals of the 2023 Women's New England Hockey Conference Tournament. Sophomore

Haley McKim (Moncton, NB, Canada/The Mount Academy) made 44 saves.

How It Happened/Inside the Boxscore:
- The Cadets bombarded McKim with shots in the first period but the goalie remained stout and stopped all 17 shots she faced. On the other end of the ice Clark made six saves for Norwich.
- Stymiest broke the tie with her first goal of the season 2:16 into the second period. Her goal came after collecting a loose puck in front of the net and firing a quick shot to beat Clark high. Senior Peyton Dukas (Fairfield, Vt.) and junior Georgie Snow (Yarmouth Port, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth) assisted on the goal.
- Stymiest's goal was the only score of the period with McKim making another 16 saves to hold the lead for the Huskies.
- After being kept off the scoreboard for the first two periods Ingrid Holstad-Berge scored to tie the game at 1-1.
- Norwich continued to control the offensive flow of the game and pestered McKim with shots and with about five and a half minutes left to play Ally Lague scored off of the rebound of a Melianne Reynolds shot to put Norwich ahead 2-1. Taylor Girouard recorded the second assist on the goal.
- Nikki Lague blocked two shots in the final minute to help Norwich close out the game and advance to the NEHC Championship.
- Norwich outshot the Huskies 46-17 and won the faceoff battle 35-20.
- The Huskies blocked 16 shots while Norwich blocked 12. Senior Maddy Young (Westford, Vt.) blocked three for Southern Maine.
- McKim finishes the season with 766 saves after breaking the previous record in the last round of the playoffs.
