Brandeis earned a 5-3 win over the Huskies in 2022.  Senior Catriona Gould (Freeport, Maine) had two goals against the Judges in the 2022 meeting.  Prior to 2022, the Huskies last faced Brandeis in 2005 battling to a 0-0 double overtime draw.

How It Happened:
  • With junior Aly Veilleux (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Memorial) setting the tone early, putting a shot on frame in the opening minutes, Southern Maine ripped four shots in the opening 10 minutes.
  • The Huskies took advantage of the early pressure and broke through for the lone goal of the game in the fifth minute when Roy tapped in her fifth goal of the season to the right near post off of an outstanding ball in from Reitchel.  Roy's goal proved to be the game-winner and is her first game-winning goal of her Husky career.
  • While both teams put three shots on net in the first half, the Huskies' Atwood kept the Judges off the scoreboard.  In the second half, Brandeis put four shots on target, but each time Atwood was able to answer to earn the shutout.  The Judges had an early attempt at an equalizer in the second half from Lacey Mbugua, but Atwood made the dive to her left for the stop.
  • Brandeis had 11 second-half shots, but were stymied by the Huskies' defense, including an outstanding performance from senior Sarah Lowell (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) who blocked several attempts with her body.
