GORHAM, Maine – Meg Dixon was 10-for-13 from the field for a game-high 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the UMass Boston Beacons to a 69-58 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference women's basketball game Wednesday night at Hill Gym.
Dixon was one of three Beacons in double digits. Alexah Potter added 13 points and nine rebounds, while Sunny Green added 11 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Maria Degifico (South Portland, Maine) led three Huskies in double figures with 15 points on 6-for-12 shooting, adding three assists and a steal. Freshman
Vanessa Vaughan (Hantsport, Nova Scotia/King's Edge Hill) added 14 points, five rebounds and five steals, while sophomore
Gabby Green (Manchester, Maine/Maranacook) scored a career-high 10 points off of the bench shooting 4-for-5 from the field.

Tonight's game marked the 82
nd meeting between the Huskies and the Beacons. Southern Maine leads the overall series 71-11 and won its last match up against UMass Boston 66-62 on February 16, 2022.
How It Happened:
- After a closely played first quarter, UMass Boston led 14-11 as Keriann Farina sank a layup on the Beacons final possession of the quarter.
- UMass Boston went into the half up 31-19, outscoring Southern Maine 17-8 in the second quarter. Up 16-15 over USM after a Degfico jumper, UMass Boston rattled off a 15-0 run to take control of the game. Farina had four points in the run. The Huskies were 0-for-5 from the field during that stretch with four turnovers.
- Dixon scored 10 of her 25 points in the third quarter as Beacons led the Huskies 48-31 at the conclusion of the third. Green scored six of the Huskies 12 points in the third.
- The Huskies made a fourth-quarter push and cut their deficit to 11, 63-52, with 1:52 to play but were unable to get closer than 10 points the rest of the way as UMB held for the win.

- Southern Maine won the turnover battle committing just 12 to UMass Boston's 21, but were unable to convert points. The Beacons scored 11 points off of the Huskies turnovers, while Southern Maine scored 12 off of Boston's 21.
- UMass Boston outrebounded USM 39-26, and had 10 offensive rebounds. The Beacons scored 18 second chance points.
