HENNIKER, N.H. – Reigning Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week Rachel Shanks (Naples, Maine/Lake Region) and Rookie of the Week
Kate Colvin (Winchester, Mass./Governor's Academy) each scored five goals as the University of Southern Maine Huskies took down the New England College Pilgrims 17-2 on Friday night in Henniker.

How It Happened/Inside the Box Score:
-Southern Maine got on the board early as Colvin scored back-to-back goals. Evelyn Hinkley (West Gardiner, Maine/Gardiner Area), Jillian Nichols (Gorham, Maine/Gorham), and Shanks also scored first quarter goals, which put the Huskies up 5-1 after 15 minutes of play.
-Colvin led off the second quarter the same way as the first, scoring back-to-back goals within four minutes. Hinkley and Emily Baker (Limerick, Maine/Massabesic) also scored and Racine held the Pilgrims scoreless in the second quarter..
-Shanks scored four of her five goals in the second half and Baker and Colvin each scored again. Kiaya Gatchell (Portland, Maine/Deering) and Paige Rinaldi (Freeport, Maine/Freeport) also added goals, to bring USM's tally to 17.
-The Pilgrims two goals came from Natalie Antigua (North Brunswick, N.J.) and Lauran Rich (Plaistow, N.H.)
-Gatchell led the Huskies with four assists and Colvin and Jillian Nichols (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) each added one.
-Defensively, Shanks scooped up six ground balls, while Rhiannon McQuaide (Wells, Maine/Wells) collected four ground balls and caused two turnovers. Racine and Laslavic combined for six saves on eight shots on goal.
-Southern Maine out-shot the Pilgrims 36-10 and went 17-for-21 on clear attempts.
