SALEM, Mass. –
Nick James (Portland, Maine/Deering) scored eight goals and notched five assists to post a school record thirteen points as the University of Southern Maine Huskies took down the Salem State Vikings 25-12 on Wednesday afternoon in Salem. James now holds the program record in both points and goals in a single game.

How It Happened/Inside the Box Score:
-Salem State got on the board within the first minute of play after two penalties on the Huskies lead to a man-up opportunity. Southern Maine then scored three consecutive goals, two from James and one from Schuyler Wetmore (Cumberland Center, Maine/Greely), and would not trail again.
-Wetmore scored two more and Tucker Nussinow (Winthrop, Maine/Kent Hills School) added another to give the Huskies a 6-2 lead after one quarter of play.
-The Vikings opened the second quarter with a goal to cut the deficit to three goals, but five second quarter goals gave the Huskies an 11-5 lead at the half. Wetmore, James, and Nussinow all scored again and Aidan Mitchell (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) added his first goal of the game.
-Salem State launched a comeback, scoring five goals in the third quarter. -The face-off team of Xpistos Sourgiadakis (Littleton, N.H./St. Johnsbury Academy),
Cruise Lizotte-Johnson (Sanford, Maine/Sanford), and Caedan Poission-Bragdon (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) won 29-of-41 face-offs on the day.
-The Huskies out-shot the Vikings 60 to 33 and committed just 14 turnovers.
