GORHAM, Maine. – The University of Southern Maine Huskies women's lacrosse team celebrated graduate student Jennifer Darasz (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) and seniors Evelyn Hinkley (West Gardiner, Maine/Gardiner Area),
Rachel Shanks (Naples, Maine/Lake Region), and
Payton Winslow (Auburn, Maine/St. Dominics) prior to a Saturday afternoon game in Gorham against UMass Dartmouth. The Huskies downed the Corsairs 16-2 to pick up their sixth consecutive win and third conference win of the season.

How It Happened/Inside the Box Score:
-It took the Huskies under a minute to get on the board as Emily Baker (Limerick, Maine/Massabesic) led three Huskies in scoring in the first quarter. Baker, Shanks, and Kate Colvin (Winchester, Mass./Governor's Academy) each netted two in the first to give Southern Maine a 6-1 lead.
-Colvin continued her offensive prowess in the second quarter, netting two more. Darasz also scored twice before the half and Shanks added another. The Huskies led 11-1 at the break.
-Lauren Mitus (Belchertown, Mass.) scored her second goal of the game for the Corsairs in the third quarter and Colvin and Darasz each added another.
-In the final quarter of play, Winslow, a skilled defender for the Huskies, scored two goals, the first points of her career. Jillian Nichols (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) also got on the board to make the final score 16-2.
-The Huskies out-shot the Corsairs 32-6 and went 12-for-16 on clear attempts.
-Kiaya Gatchell (Portland, Maine/Deering) led the defensive effort for Southern Maine, picking up three ground balls and causing one turnover.
