BEVERLY, Mass. – Junior Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) went 5-for-5 at the plate, scoring three runs and sophomore Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) drove in five runs and scored two in a 2-for-5 effort at the plate as the Endicott College Gulls pounded out 19 hits en route to 16-2 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday afternoon at North Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sophomore Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.) hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first as part of a five-run inning for Endicott as the Gulls jumped ahead early on the Huskies to roll to the win.
- Husky sophomore Jonathan Wilson (East Granby, Conn.) stroked a two-run home run in the top of the second to cut USM's deficit to 5-2, but Endicott's offense continued to roll in the home half of the second as junior Jake Nardone (Wakefield, Mass./Tilton School) had a two-out three-run home run for an 8-2 Gull advantage.
- Endicott added three more runs in the third, including an RBI double from Shpur and a solo home run from junior Thomas Barbieri (Cranston, R.I.) to make it 11-2.
- In the fifth, Notarangelo hit a grand slam to right field making it a 15-2 Gull advantage before graduate student Nicholas Perkins (Nashua, N.H./Cushing Academy) drove in Endicott's final run of the game with an RBI single up the middle.
- Endicott's starter freshman John Connolly (Attleboro, Mass.) was credited with the win as the Gulls went with a pre-determined bullpen. The Gulls used eight different pitchers in the win, and held USM to five hits and combined for 10 strikeouts.
- Husky starter James Sinclair (Portland, Maine/Deering) took the loss pitching 2.2 innings and allowing 10 runs on 10 hits. The Huskies used five more pitchers to finish out the game.
- USM's Wilson's second inning home run was his first of the season.
