SALEM, Mass. – Sophomore Haley McKim (Moncton, NB/The Mount Academy) earned her sixth shutout to set the new program record for shutouts in a season as the University of Southern Maine Huskies took down the Salem State Vikings 4-0 in Salem on Saturday. With the win, Southern Maine has secured the number three seed going into the New England Hockey Conference Tournament and will host a home playoff game on Saturday, February 19 at 4pm.

How It Happened/Inside the Box Score:
-At the tail end of the first period, Brianna Doty (Lyndonville, Vt./Lyndon Academy) sent a puck in from the blue line towards Maddy Young (Westford, Vt./Vermont Shamrocks). Young deflected the pass over to Georgie Snow (Yarmouth Port, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth), who found the back of the net to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.
-Shannon Douglas (Telford, England/Ontario Hockey Academy) scored her second goal of the weekend, tipping in a rocket of a pass sent in by Kate Colvin (Winchester, Mass./Governor's Academy) early in the second period.
-Rylie Binette (Milan, N.H./Berlin) grabbed the puck in the Huskies' third of the ice off of a faceoff and took it the length of the ice by herself, before slipping it past Aveni to put the Huskies up 3-0 in the third period.
-On a power play opportunity late in the third period, Doty sent a rocket of a shot from just in front of the blue line, finding the upper left corner of the goal for her first of the season.
-Doty finished the night +4, a team-best and game-high.
