Box Score PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island – Nathaniel Maldonado scored a game-high 18 points to lead four players in double-digits as the Rhode Island College Anchormen defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 78-67 in a Little East Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at the Murray Center.

How It Happened:
- Tied 38-38 at the break, Rhode Island College outscored USM 14-3 in the opening 5:17 of the second half to take a 52-41 lead and then held for the win. Five different Anchormen scored in the run led by four points from Ousmane Kourouma.
- USM battled back to trail by a single possession 54-51 with 10:27 on the clock utilizing a 10-2 run. The Huskies were 4-for-6 during that stretch, including threes from Simon Chadbourne and Mark Asare Jr.
- The Anchormen responded however going 5-for-10 from the field over the next 6:15 of action to lead 67-55, outscoring the Huskies 13-4 in the stretch.
- A driving layup from Tommy Whelan pulled USM to within single digits, 68-59, with 2:01 to go, but both teams kept pace with each other in the final minutes with RIC outscoring USM 10-8 for the 78-67 final.
Inside The Stats:
- RIC's Ousmane Kourourma had 16 points and six rebounds with two blocked shots, while Anthony Rivera had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Victor Olivera-Rodriguez added 12 points, and seven rebounds to round out the double-digits for the Anchormen.
- Juniors Chance Dixon and Simon Chadbourne each had 16 points for the Huskies. Dixon was 4-for-10 from three, while Chadboure was 3-for-8. Freshman Tommy Whelan added 13 points off of the bench with four rebounds, four steals and three assists. Senior Jason Lombard had five assists for the Huskies and five rebounds.
Up Next:
The Huskies host Castleton University on Saturday (3:00 pm) before the semester break. Southern Maine returns on December 30 (1:00 pm) at Saint Joseph's College and then hosts Colby College on December 31 (1:00 pm). Both games are non-conference
