Chagnon and Stymiest Lead Huskies by Nor’easters 3-1

GORHAM, Maine – Freshman Madison Chagnon (Saint Albans, VT/Rice Memorial) scored two goals to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 3-1 win over the University of New England Nor'easters on Tuesday in Gorham.

When and Where: Tuesday, January 18, 2022 – University of Southern Maine – USM Ice Arena

History: This was the 17th meeting between the two programs. The Nor'easters now lead the series 10-5-2.

How It Happened/Inside the Box Score: 
-The Nor'easters got on the board first when Meghan Hamilton (Rutland, VT/Vermont Shamrocks) netted an unassisted goal to give UNE a 1-0 lead late in the first period. 

-It didn't take long for the Huskies' to respond as Brianna Doty (Lyndonville, VT/Lyndonville) found Chagnon who scored her first goal of the night just five minutes into the second period.

-The Huskies' next two goals from Chagnon and Stymiest, respectively, came during power play opportunities. 

-The Huskies are now 10-for-57 on power play opportunities, which puts their conversion rate in the top four in the New England Hockey Conference.

-Led by Shannon Colbert (Manomet, Mass./Tilton School) (23-for-33) who took the ice for her 100th game as a Husky, USM won 38 of 63 face-offs on the night.
