STANDISH, ME – The University of Southern Maine women's volleyball program remained on the road during their first week of play. The Huskies headed to the Saint Joseph's College of Maine to play the University of New England Friday evening and were upended in straight sets. The setback sends USM to 0-2 early while the victory moves UNE to 1-0.

History: This was the 18th meeting between the two programs. The Nor'Easters are 11-7 against the Huskies in the series. USM has won seven of the last 10 meetings since starting the series with eight straight defeats.

Inside the Box Score:
- Four Huskies recorded double-digit digs including sophomore libero
Tori McMahon (Wappingers Falls, NY) who had a team-high 15 digs.
- UNE had a better serve/receive and net presence than USM recording more aces (8-to-3), total blocks (12-to-6), and fewer reception errors.
- In the second set, Southern Maine hit a team match-best .150 with 11 kills their highest total in the contest.
Milestone Watch: Team captain
Sophie Lindsay (Sierra Madre, CA) needs 23 assists to achieve 1,000 for her career. She will become the fifth Husky in program history to reach 1,000 career helpers.
Up Next: The navy and gold remain on the road tomorrow for their first tri-match of the year as they are scheduled to play the Maine Maritime Academy at noon and the host Saint Joseph's College of Maine Monks at 4:00 p.m.
