BOSTON, MA – The Wentworth Institute of Technology rallied from a 2-0 match deficit to upend the University of Southern Maine volleyball team in five sets on Wednesday evening. With the victory, the host Leopards improve to 7-3 overall while the Huskies drop to 2-6 early in the year.
Southern Maine took the first two sets by 25-19 and 25-21 scores, but Wentworth took the third and fourth sets by two points. USM attempted comebacks late in each of the third and fourth sets, but couldn't even the margin. In the fifth and final set, the Huskies were ahead 3-2 and were behind 9-8 late, however, a game-ending 6-2 spurt from the Leopards completed the match.

History: This was the third meeting between the two programs. The Leopards are an unblemished 3-0 against the Huskies in the series.

Alizia Lagando (Huron, OH), match-high 10 kills and career-high matching 19 digs, three service aces and two assists, double-double.
Standout Leopard: Shelby Seage, nine kills, 13 digs, two assists, one ace.

Madison Zimmer (Regina, SK, Canada) hit .500 across 10 attack attempts (six kills) in the match.

Sophie Lindsay (Sierra Madre, CA) was two kills shy of her third straight triple-double, she put up a match-best and season-high 32 assists.
-Sophomore defensive specialist
Sierra Castonguay (Nottingham, NH) had 15+ digs for the third consecutive game.
Up Next: The navy and gold open up Little East Conference play on Saturday when they travel to Castleton University for a tri-match. The Huskies square off with the host Spartans at 10:00 a.m. before they take on Fisher College in a non-conference bout at noon.
