Jamie Jannarone's (Windham, Maine) 11 kills, the University of Southern Maine women's volleyball team closed it abbreviated 2021 season with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-16) non-conference victory over Husson University Saturday morning at Newman Gymnasium.
The Huskies completed the season undefeated at 3-0 and moved head coach
Diane Newell within one win of becoming the first USM coach to record 100 career wins. The Eagles completed their season at 0-2.
Jannarone led the offense knocking down 11 kills without a hitting error on 26 attacks for a .423 hitting percentage. Rookie
Brianna DellaIacono (Moodus, Conn./Hale Ray) and sophomore
Julia Pomerleau (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) added five kills apiece. Junior
Sophie Lindsay (Sierra Madre, Calif.) contributed four kills and passed out 22 assists.
For the Eagles, sophomore
Eryka West (Meriden, Conn./Lyman Hall) led the way with eight kills on 15 attacks. Junior
Sophia Pagliarini (Johnston, R.I./La Salle Academy) had five kills, and junior
Karimah Land (Randolph, Mass.) chipped in with four kills. Sophomore setter
Cheyenne Young (Eagle River, Alaska) passed out 17 assists.
