           MANSFIELD, Conn. -- Senior
Tyler Stein (Milford, Conn.) scored a game-high five goals and had one assist to lead the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors to a 21-5 Little East Conference victory over the visiting University of Southern Maine Huskies Saturday afternoon at Rick McCarthy Field.
           The win snapped a four-game losing skid for the Warriors and got them back to .500 overall at 5-5 and 2-3 in conference play. The Huskies dropped their fourth straight game to slide to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in LEC games.
           Stein led a balanced Warrior attack that had 12 players contribute a point. Freshman
Zacharie Appolon (Stamford, Conn.) also had six points on three goals and three assists. Senior
Jake Liebowitz (Trumbull, Conn.) added three goals and one assist, and senior
Kyle Cardoza (Waterford, Conn.) recorded a hat trick.
           Graduate student
Jack Farrell (Stratford, Conn.) made five saves in the first half to even his season record at 5-5. Â Senior
John Funk (Southbury, Conn.) made five saves in relief of Farrell. Freshman
Nick Collazo (Park Ridge, N.J.) closed out the win, playing the final 6:27 without making a save.
           Southern Maine received goals from five different players. Freshmen
Ethan Ford (North Andover, Mass.) and
Nathan Plourde (Otisfield, Maine/Oxford Hills) split the goaltending chores for the Huskies. Ford played the first and fourth quarters and made seven saves. Plourde played the middle two period stopping five shots. Senior
Joe Cullinan (Contoocook, N.H./Hopkinton) had a goal and a team-high seven ground balls for the Huskies.
           Eastern rolled out to a 13-0 lead in the middle of the second quarter before senior
Tristan Dundas (Abbotsford, B.C.) put the Huskies on the board with his 20th goal of the season.
           The Warriors outshot the Huskies 42-24 in the game and had a huge 53-26 advantage in ground balls. Stein and rookie
David Harrold (Southington, Conn.) combined to win 19 of 24 faceoffs for the Warriors.
           Southern Maine concludes its 2021 regular season next Friday (April 30) hosting Castleton University at Hannaford Field. Eastern Connecticut is scheduled to travel to Castleton on Wednesday for its regular season finale,
