CASTINE, Maine – Springfield College Pride had three players in double figures to defeat the University of Southern Maine Huskies 80-45 in the second game of the Maine Maritime Academy Mariner Invitational Saturday afternoon at Smith Gymnasium.
Springfield shot 46.3 percent from the field as a team to improve to 3-0.

How It Happened:
- Springfield scored the first six points of the game and never looked back to take a commanding 26-15 lead headed into the second quarter.
- Despite being down early, the Huskies did rally to within a a point of Springfield twice in the first quarter and trailed 12-11 with 5:27 on the clock following a jumper from Fleming, but the Pride outscored USM 14-4 to close.
- Springfield outscored USM 19-10 in the second quarter and held a sizeable 45-25 lead at the break. USM was never able to close the gap the rest of the way.
