Allain Scores Twice, USM Defeats Keene State 4-0

Allain (2), Berthiaume & Veilleux All Score; Atwood Makes Six Saves in Shut Out

KEENE, N.H.  – Senior Alex Allain (Carmel, Maine/Hermon) scored twice in the first half and sophomore goalkeeper Bre Atwood (Franklin, Mass.) made six saves to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 4-0 win over the Keene State College Owls  in Little East Conference women's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Dr. Ron Butcher Field.

The win is just the third in the 25-game series history between the two schools.  The Huskies last win over the Owls came during the 2018 season – a 3-0 shut out on October 10.  Allain had a pair of assists in the 2018 win.  KSC won the 2019 meeting 3-2.

The win is the fourth straight for Southern Maine as the Huskies are undefeated in their last seven contests (6-0-1).

  • Senior Ciera Berthiaume (Windham, Maine) made it 3-0 in favor of USM in the 57th minute scoring on the Huskies' first shot of the second half.  The goal is Berthiaume's team-leading 12th of the season.
  • KSC's Alexa Skinner and Marshall each put shots on frame in the 60th and 64th minute but Atwood made both saves keeping the clean sheet alive.
  • USM closed out the scoring in the 90th minute on a looping ball over the head of the Owls' goalkeeper from freshman Aly Veilleux (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Memorial) for the 4-0 final. The goal is Veilleux's third of the season.
