KSC Blanks Southern Maine 8-0

KEENE, N.H. –  Six different players found the back of the net as the Keene State College Owls defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 8-0 in a Little East Conference men's soccer game Saturday afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex.

            With the win, KSC improves to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the Little East.  Southern Maine drops to 0-5-3 on the season and is 0-2 in the Little East.

            KSC junior Promise Kpee (Manchester, N.H./West) scored a pair of early goal in the fourth and 13th minute to pace the Owls to victory and notched his second hat trick of the season when he put his team ahead 4-0 in the 38th minute after successfully converting a penalty kick.  Ahead 4-0 at the break, KSC continued to press offensively, scoring its final goal of the game in the 72nd minute off of a strike from sophomore Samuel Binogono (Manchester, N.H./Central) for the 8-0 final.

            Three goalkeeper saw action for KSC.  Starter junior Jason Smith (Gales Ferry, Conn./Ledyard School) earned the win playing 45 minutes. He did not register a save. Sophomore Simon Hulbert (Bar Harbor, Maine/Mount Desert Island) absorbed the loss making four saves and allowing seven goals in 66:47 of action. Freshman Dalton Cassidy (Fort Fairfield, Maine) made his first appearance of the season, playing the final 23:13 for the Huskies making four saves and allowing one goal.

            Southern Maine travels to UMaine Farmington for its next game on Wednesday (4:00 p.m.).  Keene State travels game against Sprignfield College on Sunday (12:30 p.m.)
