Sam Dexter Hits Two HR, Career High Six RBI
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. -- Senior Sam Dexter (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) went 3 for 5, including his first two home runs of the season, with a career-high six RBI as the #14/#15 ranked University of Southern Maine Huskies pounded out 19 hits en route to a 16-5 victory over Framingham State University in a non-conference game Tuesday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex.
The win snapped a two-losing skid for the Huskies, and improved their overall record to 7-4. The Rams dropped their fourth straight to fall to 3-8 overall.
Dexter had an RBI double in the first inning to help USM build a 2-0 lead. He hit a two-run homer in his third turn at bat in the fifth inning, and had a three-run shot to cap off the Huskies' six-run seventh inning. The six RBI surpass his previous single-game high of four against Plymouth State University on April 20, 2013.

Glauser and Richard had a double among their three hits. DiBiase scored three runs, and Glauser scored twice. Richard tallied one run and drove in two.
Rookie right-hander Jack Donnelly (Walpole, Mass.) started on the hill for USM and went 5.2 innings to pick up his first win of the season. Donnelly allowed three runs on seven hits and one walk while fanning five.
Juniors Manny Powers (Malden, Mass.) and Ryan Wardwell (Hudson, Mass.) led the Rams at the plate with three hits apiece. Powers drove in a pair of runs, while Wardwell scored twice. Senior pitcher Dillon Corliss (Winterport, ME) took the loss for the Rams going five innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts.
In the opening frame, DiBiase led off the game with a single and scored on Dexter's double to right field. Dexter then stole third and would score on a sacrifice fly by Richard.
USM added a single run in the third when junior Paul McDonough (Wells, Maine) was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on a single from Richard.
DiBiase led off the fifth with a single and trotted home on Dexter's shot over the center field fence.
The Rams got on the board in the bottom of the fifth on back-to-back doubles from Powers and freshman Anthony Venuti (Braintree, Mass.). Venuti then came around with the second run on an RBI base hit from classmate Aaron Rios (Stratford, Conn.).
The Huskies picked up two, and the Rams got one, in the sixth to make it 7-3. Southern Maine put the game away with six runs in the seventh, highlighted by a two-run double from junior Matt Bender (Walpole, Mass.) and Dexter's second round tripper of the day.
