Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine – Five players scored in double figures as the 14th-ranked Bowdoin College Polar Bears defeated the University of Southern Maine 85-40 in a non-conference women's basketball game at Morrell Gymnasium.
With the win, Bowdoin remained undefeated early in the season and improves to 4-0. Southern Maine drops its third straight to stand at 1-5 on the season.
Ally Siffen led Bowdoin with 12 points off the bench, while Kate Kerrigan was 4-for-5 from the field for 11 points, adding three assists. Marle Curle, Cordella Stewart and Maddie Hasson each chipped in with 10 points. Bowdoin shot 55.7 percent (34-for-61) from the field.
Junior Emily Nicholson (Quispmasis, New Brunswick/Kennebecasis) and freshman Mychaela Harton (Georgia, Vt./Essex) each scored seven points for Southern Maine, while sophomore Alexa Srolovitz (Montreal, Quebec/New Hampton School (NH)) and freshmen Jackie Luckhardt (Londonderry, N.H.) and Chantel Eells (Turner, Maine/Leavitt) each scored six points. Luckhardt was 3-for-3 with a pair of steals for the Huskies, while Eells grabbed six rebounds to go along with a steal and an assist. Harton was 3-for-6 from the field, with three rebounds and two assists.
Southern Maine returns to action on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) in its Little East Conference opener against Eastern Connecticut State. Bowdoin College travels to Colby on Saturday (2:00 p.m.).
