2015 Little East Conference Men's Basketball Quarterfinals: Eastern Connecticut Defeats Southern Maine 80-39

            WILLAMANTIC, Conn.  –  Sophomore Hugh Lindo scored a game-high 18 points on 9-for-11 shooting form the field and added 11 rebounds and three assists to lead the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors to an 80-39 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in the quarterfinals of the Little East Conference men's basketball championship tournament Tuesday night at Geissler Gymnasium.

            With the win, the Warriors, the 2015 regular season champions, advance to the semifinals of the LEC tourney. Southern Maine concludes its season at 5-21. 

            The Warriors shot a solid 45.7 percent (32-for-70) from the field and used a balanced effort to defeat the Huskies.  Freshman Collin Jordan was the only other ECSU player in double-figures adding 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting, including a pair of threes.  Classmate Tarchee Brown and Kevin Leumene each added nine points, while Brown had a team-high four assists.

            Southern Maine junior Jacob Littlefield (Mechanic Falls, Maine/Poland Regional) led the Huskies with 13 points, knocking down 6-of-10 from the field.  Sophomore forward Fred Knight (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy) added eight points and five rebounds. 

            Lindo scored 14 of his game-high 18 in the first half as the Warriors raced out to a commanding 44-21 lead at the break.  The Warriors shot 46.2 percent (18-for-39) for the field in the first half, and held USM to just eight field goals and 8-for-24 shooting (33.3 percent).  In the second half, ECSU's defense tightened even more limiting USM to just 18 points in the second half for the win. 

            The game marked the final career game of USM's Michael Trahan (Gardiner, Maine).
