Box Score GORHAM, Maine - Freshman Tarchee Brown (Rockville, Conn.) scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors to a 74-46 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Hill Gymnasium.
With the win, the Warriors remain undefeated in the LEC at 5-0 and improve their overall record to 13-3. It is the third consecutive win for Eastern Connecticut. Southern Maine falls to 3-12 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
Brown was 7-for-11 from the field and 4-for-6 from three-point range as the Warriors shot a scoring 50.0 percent (28-for-56) from the field en route to the win. Sophomore Hugh Lindo (Enfield, Conn.) and juniors Kevin Leumene (Stamford, Conn./Trinity Catholic) and Michael-Thomas Sciro (Westerly, R.I.) each scored 11 points.
Southern Maine junior Jacob Littlefield (Mechanic Falls, Maine/Poland Regional) led the Huskies with 11 points on 5-for-12 shooting. Junior Sean Caddigan (Bethel, Maine/Telstar Regional) added six points. Junior Cole Libby (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) had a game-high eight rebounds.
After giving up the opening basket to the Huskies, the Warriors took control of the game outscoring USM 25-8 in the first ten minutes of the half. Brown scored 14 of his 18 points during the stretch. The Warriors remained in control and held a commanding 47-19 lead at the break. In the second half, Southern Maine never got any closer than 25 points.
Southern Maine remains in Little East Conference action on Tuesday (7:30 p.m.) when it travels to Plymouth State. Eastern Connecticut travels to Keene State on Tuesday (7:30 p.m.) for an LEC match-up.
