GORHAM, Maine -- Held to a scoreless draw through the opening half, the visiting Thomas College Terriers exploded for a season-high six goals in the second half to defeat the University of Southern Maine Huskies 6-0 in a non-conference men's soccer match Tuesday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

            The win was the third in the last four matches for the Terriers, and improves their overall record to 3-2.  The Huskies slide to 0-6-1 overall.

            Junior Dakota Duplissie (Hampden, Maine) snapped the scoreless string in the 48th minute taking a feed from senior Michael Hand (Essex, England) and slotting home a left-footed shot for his third goal of the season.

            Sophomore Joshua Phelps (Maroochydor, Australia) beat a USM defender on the right side before converting a 12-yard shot for his first marker of the campaign.

            The Terriers added a pair of goals five minutes apart after the hour mark to blow the game open.  Sophomore Guled Guled (Boston, Mass.) scored in the 65th minute converting a set-up from classmate Tre Ming (Devonshire, Bermuda), and junior Kenny Cano (Lowell, Mass.) headed in the first of his two goals in the 70th minute.

            Cano and rookie Kevin Parsons (Sunapee, N.H.) tacked on goals in the final 13 minutes to account for the 6-0 final.  Hand picked up his second assist of the match on the Parsons' score.

            Senior Mikkail Crockwell (St. David's, Bermuda) and junior Winston Trott (Pembroke, Bermuda) combined in goal for the shutout without registering a save.  Freshman goalkeeper Adam Verreault (Poland, Maine) recorded six saves in the Huskies goal.

            Thomas finished the match with a 23-4 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.

            Southern Maine opens its Little East Conference schedule this Saturday (1:00 p.m.) traveling to Boston to play the University of Massachusetts Boston.  Thomas begins its North Atlantic Conference slate at Lyndon (Vt.) State College on Saturday (1:00 p.m.).
