Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Senior Demi Miskiv (Centerville, Mass./Barnstable) notched her fourth goal of the season in the 46th minute to lead the Bridgewater State University Bears to a 3-1 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon in Bridgewater, Mass.
With its second straight win, Bridgewater State improves to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Little East Conference. The loss drops the Huskies' record to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
After a scoreless first half, Miskiv broke through for the game-winning goal driving in an unassisted goal from the top of the circle. Both teams were nearly equal in scoring opportunities. USM freshman Amanda Kasbohm (York, Maine) made four saves in the loss, while Bridgewater State senior Kacie Sturgeon (Dartmouth, Mass.) made three saves to earn the win. BSU held a 9-6 advantage in shots and a decisive 11-2 advantage in penalty corners.
Southern Maine returns to action on Tuesday (7:00 p.m.) when it travels to take on nationally-ranked Bowdoin College. Bridgewater State travels to Keene State (1:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
