Box Score KEENE, N.H. – Senior Kalin Billert (Center Conway, N.H./Kennett) scored three goals to lead the Keene State College Owls to a 6-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon in Keene, N.H.
With the win, the Owls improve to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference. The Huskies drop their fourth consecutive game to fall to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the Little East.
After an early goal from freshman Hayley Dolan (West Brookfield, Mass./Quaboug) to spot the Owls an 1-0 lead in the ninth minute, Billert rattled off three consecutive goals, including a pair in the first half when KSC built a commanding 3-0 lead.
Billert tacked on her third goal of the game just under three minutes into the second half for 4-0 Owls lead. Sophomore Marisa Lemoine (Berlin, N.H.) added two goals in the 46th and 49th minutes respectively for the 6-0 final.
The Owls outshot USM 19-4 and held a 9-2 advantage in penalty corners. Sophomore Caitlin Davino-Draper (Hanover, N.H.) earned the win making two saves in 45:14 of action for the Owls. Freshman Meghan Dwyer (Rutland, Mass.) saw 16:49 of action without making a save, before freshman Chloe Audesse (Goffstown, N.H.) finished out the final 7:57 making one save.
Junior Kayla Kennedy (Windham, Maine) took the loss allowing four goals in 41:50 of action while making three saves. Sophomore Lindsey Fortin (Berwick, Maine/Noble) made three saves and allowed two goals in the final 28:10.
Southern Maine remains on the road at Salem State on Wednesday (6:00 p.m.) for a Little East Conference game. Keene State will travel to in-state rival Plymouth State on Wednesday (4:00 p.m.) for a LEC game.
