Box Score PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Freshmen middle hitter Sam Clark (Coventry, R.I.) and freshman outside hitter Kaitlyn Coon (Poestenkill, N.Y./Averill Park) combined for an impressive 27 kills to help the Plymouth State University Panthers volleyball team upend the University of Southern Maine Huskies 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-23) in a Little East Conference match at Foley Gym Tuesday night.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 9-14 overall and 2-2 in LEC play. The Huskies, who've lost four straight after a three-game win streak, drop to 7-14 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Clark posted a match-high 15 kills, and Coon added 12 kills and seven digs to pace Plymouth's offense against Southern Maine. Senior outside hitter Casey Stoodley (Salem, N.H.) turned in nine kills, 11 digs, two aces, and two assists, and junior middle hitter Kaitlyn Tedeschi (Pascoag, R.I./Burrillville) contributed with six kills, eight digs, and two aces. Freshman setter Kirsten Perrotta (Hudson, N.H./Notre Dame, Mass.) chipped in with 26 assists.
For the Huskies, junior outside hitter Madalyn Terry (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) and freshman middle blocker Kelsey Abramson (Deerfield, Mass./Frontier Regional) each had seven kills, and sophomore setter Nicole Hansen (Biddeford, Maine) tallied team-highs in assists (17) and digs (11). Freshman libero Demi Ruder (Clifton, Colo./Central) turned in a game-high four aces, junior outside hitter Annie Mitchell (Gorham, Maine.) finished with three kills and seven digs, and Terry had with 10 digs or her own.
Southern Maine will take the court again tomorrow when they host University of Maine Farmington in a non-conference match at Hill Gym (7:00 p.m.).
