FARMINGTON, Maine -- Sophomore Mazen Aljari (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) scored the only goal of the match in the 16th minute, and senior goalkeeper Jeremy Turner (Portland, Maine/Deering) made nine saves as the University of Southern Maine Huskies shut out the University of Maine Farmington Beavers, 1-0, in non-conference men's soccer action Wednesday afternoon at Prescott Field.

The win was the Huskies' third in the last four matches, and improved their overall record to 4-9-0.  The Huskies have played seven 1-0 games this season, with all four of their wins coming by that count.  The Beavers fall to 1-12-0 overall.

Aljari ran onto a nifty through pass from rookie Ahmed Bin Afif (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia), took one touch and slipped a 12-yard shot under UMF senior goalkeeper Paul Dupre (Rehoboth, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) for his fourth goal of the season.  Bin Afif picked up the lone assist for his first collegiate point.

Over the past two seasons, Aljari has netted eight of USM's 17 goals scored, and has five game-winning markers.

Turner made the one goal stand up despite UMF outshooting USM 23-12 over the 90 minutes.  The shutout was the fourth of the season for Turner.  Dupre finished with four saves, including a leaping stop on freshman Luke Pugsley (Kennebunk, Maine/Milton [Mass.]) in the 77th minute.

Southern Maine will be at home on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) facing Little East Conference foe, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.  UMaine Farmington will host the University of Maine Machias in a non-conference match on Sunday (2:15 p.m.).
