Husson Handles Southern Maine 3-0

BANGOR, Maine – Sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Burrill (Westerly, RI/Chelsea) had seven kills to lead the Husson University Eagles to a 3-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference women's volleyball match Tuesday night at Newman Gymnasium in Bangor, Maine.

         With their fourth straight win, the Eagles improve their record to 12-3 overall.  Southern Maine falls to 0-8 with the loss.

         Burrill had a solid .357 hitting percentage as the Eagles defeated the Huskies 25-12, 25-6 nad 25-13.  Junior setter Aleta Johnson (Milton, N.H./Nute) managed the Husson offense with 13 kills, while junior middle hitter Hannah Olsted (Farmington, N.H.) racked up an outstanding 14 service aces.

         USM senior middle blocker Hannah Patterson (Londonderry, N.H.) led the Huskies with two kills, five digs and five solo blocks.  Patterson's five solo blocks is tied for seventh in single game records (for three-game matches) and is the highest number of solo blocks by a Husky since the 2006 season.

         Southern Maine returns to action on Saturday (12:00 p.m.) when it faces Curry College at the Salem State Invitational.  Husson University faces Green Mountain College at Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday (12:30 p.m).
