St. Joseph's Cruises Past Southern Maine 3-0

STANDISH, Maine  –  Junior outside hitter Brooke Dyer (Lebanon, Maine/St. Thomas Aquinas) had nine kills and three service aces to lead the St. Joseph's College (Maine) Monks to a 3-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference women's volleyball match Thursday night in Standish, Maine.

         With its second straight win, St. Joseph's improves to 12-4 overall.  The Huskies remain winless with the loss and drop to 0-12.

         The Monks had a team hitting percentage of .286 to defeat the Huskies 25-5, 25-12 and 25-9. Senior middle blocker Sarah Hawkes (Pownal, Maine/Freeport) added five service aces and 11 digs, both match-high totals, to go along with three kills.

         Southern Maine sophomores outside hitters Annie Mitchell (Gorham, Maine) and Alysse Tasse (Gilmanton, N.H./Gilford) each had two kills for the Huskies.  Sophomore setter Madalyn Terry (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) had four service aces.

         Southern Maine returns to action on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) when it hosts UMaine Fort Kent at Hill Gymnasium.  St. Joseph's College travels to Emmanuel College on Saturday (12:00 p.m.)
