Box Score GORHAM, Maine - Freshman Marina Stoermer (Seattle, Wash./Shorecrest) has a match-high 12 kills to led the Rhode Island College Anchormen to a 3-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference women's volleyball match Friday night at Hill Gymnasium in Gorham, Maine.
Winners of three of its last four matches, Rhode Island College improves to 15-10 with the win and 2-3 in the Little East Conference. With the loss, Southern Maine stumbles to 0-19.
Stoermer helped the Anchormen defeat the Huskies decisively 25-8, 25-5 and 25-13. She added two digs and a service ace. Junior outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, R.I./La Salle) added nine kills and a pair of aces, while freshman middle hitter Lauren Plante (Burrillville, R.I.) chipped in with sevens kills and an ace. Junior setter Jessica Ho (Seekonk, Mass.) effectively orchestrated the Rhode Island College offense with 26 assists.
Sophomore setter Madalyn Terry (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) led the Huskies with four kills, four digs and five assists. Freshman Nicole Hansen (Biddeford, Maine) added two kills, six digs and four assists.
Southern Maine travels to Keene State on Tuesday (7:00 p.m.) for a Little East Conference match. Rhode Island College hosts Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday (6:00 p.m.) for a LEC match.
