GORHAM, Maine -- Junior forward Courtney Cochran (Waite, Maine/Woodland) recorded her second double-double of the season scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds as the University of Southern Maine Huskies rolled to a 70-48 victory over the St. Joseph's College Monks in non-conference women's basketball action Sunday night at the Warren Hill Gymnasium.

With the win, the Huskies improved to 3-2 overall and retain the possession of the Costello Cup, presented annually to the winner of the game between the two schools.  The Huskies have won 13 straight over the Monks and lead the cup series 18-2.  The Costello Cup honors the late Richard "Doc" Costello, former USM Athletic Director and long-time basketball coach.  St. Joseph's dropped to 2-3 with the loss.

Cochran was 4-for-9 from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line to lead all scorers.  Sophomore guard Haley Jordan (Falmouth, Maine) added 12 points, six rebounds and three steals, while senior guard Kaylie DeMillo (Jay, Maine) tossed in 10 points.  Freshman guard Erin McNamara (West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional) played a steady floor game with eight points and career-high eight assists.

Junior center Ashley Geel (St. George, Maine/Georges Valley) led the Monks with 11 points and five rebounds.  Freshman forward Abby Young (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely) added 10 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Southern Maine led by 11 at the half, 37-26, after shooting a solid 51.9 percent (14-for-27) from the field.  Cochran, Jordan and DeMillo combined to tally 21 of the Huskies' 37 points.  The Huskies maintained their double-digit lead to start the second half, but the Monks battled back within nine on three occasions in the opening 10 minutes.

Geel brought the Monks within nine, 46-37, with 10:49 to play by sinking a pair of free throws.  The Huskies responded by outscoring the Monks, 14-4, over the next five minutes to lead by 19, 60-41, with 5:24 to play.  The Monks were unable to get closer than 19 the rest of the way as the Huskies led by as many as 23 points to close out the game.

Southern Maine finished the game shooting 46.2 percent (24-for-52) from the field and 45.5 percent from three-point range (10-for-22).  St. Joseph's shot just 28.0 percent (14-for-50) from the field and made only 5-of-27 field goal attempts (18.5 percent) in the second half.

Southern Maine travels to Bowdoin College on Tuesday (5:30 p.m.).  St. Joseph's travels to Thomas College on Wednesday (7:00 p.m.).
