Keene State Slips Past Southern Maine 2-0

KEENE, N.H.  –  Freshman forward Aimee Donaruma (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug) and junior forward Elizabeth Coffin (Sugar Hill, N.H./St. Johnsbury Academy) each scored a goal to lead the Keene State College Owls to a 2-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon in Keene, N.H.

            The Owls improve to 10-3 overall and 5-3 in the Little East Conference.  Suffering its second straight defeat, Southern Maine falls to 5-9 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

            Donaruma gave the Owls the early 1-0 advantage netting an unassisted goal in the 17th minute for the eventual game-winner.  Coffin added a cushion for Keene State in the 55th minute when she completed the assist from sophomore midfielder Alexandra Billert (Center Conway, N.H./Kennett).

            Keene State senior goalkeeper Meghan Ledoux (Standish, Maine/Bonny Eagle) earned the shutout making one save.  Southern Maine freshman goalkeeper Kayla Kennedy (Windham, Maine) made five saves in the loss. 

            Southern Maine returns to action on Wednesday (5:00 p.m.) at Bates College.  Keene State hosts Middlebury on Tuesday (6:30 p.m.)
