DANBURY, Conn.  --  Senior co-captain Catherine Nathans (New Fairfield, Conn.) scored two goals and senior Victoria Capozziello (Fairfield, Conn.) added one in their final regular-season home game for Western Connecticut State University, giving the Colonials a 3-0, Senior-Day victory over Little East Conference rival, the University of Southern Maine, Saturday afternoon at the Westside Athletic Complex.

With the win, WestConn's season record stands at 12-3-1, 5-0-1 in the Little East Conference, while Southern Maine falls to 4-10-1, 0-5-1 in the LEC.

In recent games, the Colonials have made a habit of scoring early and Nathans continued that trend when she convert a penalty kick opportunity with just over five minutes gone in the first half.

Five minutes later, senior Amy Corchard (Monroe, Conn.) found Nathans on the left side and Nathans quickly delivered a perfect pass to Capozziello in front of the Southern Maine goal for a 2-0 WestConn lead.

In the second half, Nathans scored her 10th goal of the season when Lauren Matthews (Monroe, Conn.) fired a pass between two Southern Maine defenders and past the Huskies' goalie.  Nathans quickly deposited the ball in the back of the goal to extend the WestConn lead to 3-0 and close out the game's scoring.

For the game, WestConn dominated the offensive action by taking 43 shots to three for Southern Maine.  The Colonials also held a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior Shannon Cawley (Willimantic, Conn.) was only called on to make one save in goal for WestConn and earns her 12th win of the season.  Junior Alison Bradley (Auckland, New Zealand) finished with 20 saves for Southern Maine.

The Colonials travel to Stevens Tech on Wednesday (7:00 p.m.) for a non-conference match.  The Huskies host St. Joseph's (Me.) College on Wednesday (3:00 p.m.) in their final regular season home match.
