UMass Dartmouth Blanks Southern Maine 3-0

            NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.  --  The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's soccer team won its second consecutive game Saturday, defeating the visiting University of Southern Maine Huskies, 3-0, in a Little East Conference match at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex.

            UMass Dartmouth improves to 3-4-4 overall and 1-1-2 in the Little East Conference with the victory.  Southern Maine, winless in its last seven matches, drops to 3-7-1 and 0-3-1 in LEC play.

            Senior midfielder Jessica Swenson (Salem, Mass.) led the Corsairs' offensive attack, scoring a goal in each half to both begin and conclude the game's scoring.  Swenson's first goal came in the 10th minute of the match, stuffing home a rebound off the left goal post.  In the second half, Swenson dribbled from the end line and notched her second goal by launching a shot just inside the far post in the 59th minute.  Both goals were unassisted. 

            The Corsairs' middle goal was scored by Caitlin McCleary (Quincy, MA/North Quincy HS) on a header, assisted by Kelsey Boothby (Holbrook, MA/Holbrook HS), at the 46:25 mark.

            Sophomore Tanya Braga (Hudson, Mass.) registered three saves to post her second straight shutout for UMD.  Junior Alison Bradley (Auckland, New Zealand) made seven stops for USM.

            The Corsairs held an 11-5 advantage in shots and a 7-2 margin in corner kicks.

            USM will host Colby College on Wednesday (4:00 p.m.).  The Corsairs will return to action next Tuesday (4:00 p.m. when they host Lesley College.
