Exauce Lenge (Portland, Maine) and sophomores
Connor Leclerc (Windham, Maine) and
Gabe Wagner (Freeport, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's soccer team have each earned Little East Conference weekly honors.
Leclerc was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week, while Lenge was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, and Wagner earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors as the Huskies finished the week 2-0-1 with wins over VTSU-Castleton, UMaine Presque Isle and a 2-2 draw with No. 16 Bates College.
Turning in a pair of full 90 shifts in Southern Maine's draw with Bates and 1-0 win over VTSU-Castleton in Little East Conference play, LeClerc led the Huskies' defense. Tying the program's single-season record for draws with the result against Bates, LeClerc turned in a strong performance against VTSU-Castleton limiting the Spartans to just three shots in the game, and just one on target. In limiting minutes against UMaine Presque Isle, LeClerc scored the Huskies' game-winning goal in a 5-0 rout of the Owls, scoring the first goal of his collegiate career in the seventh minute.
Recording a point in each of the Huskies' contests during the week, Lenge finished with two goals and an assist for five points. Lenge scored the Huskies' second goal in the draw with Bates, and then scored the game-winner with an outstanding 61
st minute strike against VTSU-Castleton. Against UMPI, Lenge assisted on LeClerc's game-winning goals. Lenge has four goals and an assist this season for nine points.
Wagner turned in another strong week in front of goal for USM, making eight saves in a 2-2 draw against Bates playing a masterful first half. Against VTSU-Castleton, Wagner earned the shutout and helped USM earn a critical three points in conference making one save and directing the Huskies' backline. Wagner's shutout over the Spartans is his second of the season.
Southern Maine hosts UMass Boston on Wednesday (6:00 pm) in a Little East contest in its final regular season home game of 2025. The Huskies finish the 2025 regular season on the road at Eastern Connecticut State on Saturday (1:00 pm) and Plymouth State on Wednesday (3:00 pm).
