UMaine Farmington Defeats Southern Maine 3-0

 
FARMINGTON, Maine  - Senior middle blocker Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, N.H.) swung for a red-hot .800 hitting percentage collecting eight kills on 10 attempts without an error to lead the UMaine Farmington Beavers to a 3-0 win over the University of Southern Maine in a non-conference women's volleyball match Wednesday night at Dearborn Gymnasium in Farmington, Maine.

         With its second win in as many matches, UMaine Farmington improves to 8-8 overall.  The Huskies fall to 0-15 with the loss.

         Mitchell added four digs as the Beavers hit a solid .254 as a team to defeat the Huskies 25-7, 25-9 and 25-21.  Junior setter Whitney Walls (Bar Harbor, Maine/Mount Desert Isle) added 11 assists and a match-high 11 service aces for UMaine Farmington.

         The Huskies were led by senior middle blocker Hannah Patterson (Londonderry, N.H.).  Patterson had four kills, two service aces, two digs and a solo block.  Sophomore setter Madalyn Terry (Kennebunkport, Maine) added a team-high six digs and one kill. 

         Southern Maine travels to the University of New England on Saturday (11:00 a.m.).  The Huskies will also face Maine Maritime Academy (1:00 p.m.).  UMaine Farmington hosts UMaine Presque Isle on Friday (6:00 p.m.).
