Dostie Going to NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships
GORHAM, Maine -- University of Southern Maine junior Peyton Dostie (Standish, Maine/Bonny Eagle) will make her second trip this year to an NCAA championship when she journeys to Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, this week to compete in the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Dostie is among the 22 competitors in the field for the 400-meter hurdles that was announced Sunday morning by the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee. The eighth seed, Dostie qualified for the outdoor championships based upon her career-best time of one minute, 1.21 seconds turned in at the NEICAAA (New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association) New England Championships at Westfield (Mass.) State University on May 10.
The Little East Conference champion in the 400 hurdles the past two seasons, Dostie competed in the 400 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March. Dostie becomes the eighth individual all-time, and first since 2012, to represent USM at the outdoor championships.
The preliminary round races for the 400 hurdles will be held this Thursday (6:30 p.m.). The finals will be run on Saturday (4:00 p.m.).
