Gilman and Dipini Earn Weekly Honors
Peter Gilman (L) earned Pilgrim League Wrester of the Week honors, while Zak Dipini (R) earned NEWA Rookie of the Week honors for the second time. Gilman is 18-3 this season, while Dipini is 13-3.
GORHAM, Maine – Junior Peter Gilman (Alfred, Maine/Massabesic) and freshman Zachary Dipini (Franklin, N.J./Pope John XXIII) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies wrestling team have each earned weekly accolades for their recent performance on the mat. 

         One the Huskies four captains, Gilman is earning Pilgrim Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week honors.  Gilman posted a 4-0 record at the Williams College Invitational and captured first place in the 149-pound bracket leading the Huskies to a fourth place finish in the nine-team invitational.  Gilman, who has won seven of his last eight matches, is 18-3 on the season and leads the Huskies' in both wins and pins (6). 

         Earning his second New England Wrestling Association Rookie of the Week accolade, Dipini has continued his solid start to his collegiate career.  Dipini earns the award for the Huskies after posting a 5-0 record in dual meets during the reporting period.  Dipini was 4-0 as the Huskies posted a 3-1 record at the Gulf Coast Duals.  In his lone dual meet this week, Dipini earned a technical fall victory over Simpson sophomore Spencer Courier.  For the season, Dipini is 13-3 overall. 

         Southern Maine, 5-2 in dual meets, is currently ranked sixth in the latest New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Division III Coaches' Poll.  The Huskies return to action on Sunday (12:00 p.m.) when they compete at the Johnson & Wales tri-meet with Norwich University.
