Cochran Earns Little East Conference Weekly Honors
GORHAM, Maine – Senior forward Courtney Cochran (Waite, Maine/Woodland) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies women's basketball team has been named the Little East Conference Player of the Week. It is the second time this season that Cochran has earned the honor from the Little East.
Cochran recorded her fourth and fifth double-doubles of the season in a pair of road wins for the Huskies. The 6-1 forward scored 29 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in a 74-60 win over traditional rival Salem State University. She followed that performance with an outstanding performance against Little East Conference opponent Western Connecticut State University, leading the Huskies to a key 77-76 overtime victory. Cochran, a 2011 LEC first team selection, recorded a career-high 34 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to pace the Huskies. In a dominating performance, she scored 10 of the Huskies' 13 points in overtime as she finished the game 13-for-19 from the field and 8-for-11 from the free throw line. Cochran's 34 points is tied for seventh in single game records at Southern Maine. For the week she averaged 31.5 points and 15.5 rebounds per game while shooting a solid 64.1 percent (25-for-39) from the field and 76.5 percent (13-for-17) from the free throw line.
